Muscat Eye Laser Center reaches out to the Ministry of Education and Sablah members

Muscat Eye Laser Center has joined hands with the Ministry of Education to offer special discounts and complimentary check-ups to teachers. In addition, Muscat Eye Laser Center has re-enforced its support to the Ministry for any new initiative that it undertakes.

The Ministry of Education lauded the initiative taken by Muscat Eye Laser Center. Hashim al-Moosawi, Head of Employee Benefits Section, Staff Care Department, said, “The Ministry of Education has always made efforts to provide the best healthcare to the public by forging a strong relation between the public and private sector. The offer by the Center to provide free check-up for the teachers and the administrative staff of the ministry is a step in this direction. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Muscat Eye Laser Center and the CEO Mr. Sameer for their co-operation and hope this paves the way for other private companies to take similar initiatives as well.”

“While we have taken steps to support the Ministry of Education in the past, this is a reiteration of our commitment to the youth and the teachers who groom and lay the foundations of their future,” said Sameer Al Awam, CEO of the Center.

MELC is also reaching out to the youth through one of Oman’s leading and popular online Arabic forums, Sablah. Special discounts are exclusively being offered to the 134,000 plus members who are constantly updated on the ongoing activities at the Center through emails and advertising online.

Muscat Eye Laser Center has consistently been promoting schemes to encourage the youth, estimated to comprise over 50 per cent of the country’s population, to get regular eye check-ups in an effort to educate them as well as minimise eye problems at a later stage. Teachers play a pivotal role in spreading awareness and sharing information that could keep eye problems in check. Muscat Eye Laser Center strongly believes teachers and students are the pillars of the nation’s growth and shows its appreciation through such small initiatives.

Muscat Eye Laser embraces new innovations in corneal transplant surgery

10 December 2011, Muscat: Muscat Eye Laser Center, the Sultanate’s leading eye-care clinic, is combining technological advances in corneal transplantation surgery, cutting-edge surgical techniques and superior in-house expertise to dramatically improve the quality of life for patients with corneal pathology. Until recently, the procedure of choice for most patients with severe diseased or damaged corneas was to undergo a full-thickness corneal transplant (also known as a penetrating keratoplasty), in which the entire cornea is replaced, even if only a portion of the cornea is diseased. While this procedure is still being carried out at Muscat Eye Laser Center for those who have severely damaged cornea, ophthalmologists at the Center have also mastered new innovative procedures that allow for the removal and replacement of only the affected layer of the corneal tissue. The upshot, says Dr. Juan G. Graviria, Scientific Director, is that patients now enjoy better outcomes, faster r...

Heartfelt letter from one of our Doctors

Have you wondered what it's like to work at Muscat Eye Laser Center?   On today's blog Dr. Dita Sekito tells us how her arrival was at Muscat Eye Laser Center and what she saw about the clinic that made her stay much longer that what she had planned.    “It was in the year 2006 that I had the opportunity to work abroad. I had this offer to work as a General Ophthalmologist in Oman. During that time, I did not even know where Oman is and that there was a country called Oman. I came for the interview unprepared and I was even not properly attired. The first thing that struck me was that the person who was going to interview me was the owner himself. The man I met was Mr. Sameer Al Awam. Little did I know that this person I met would play a great role for the next years of my life. The interview went well and in the afternoon Dr. Maria who is the medical director interviewed me. Right away after the interview, I searched the internet about Oman, Muscat Eye Las...
