New Patients Counsellor optimises service delivery at Muscat Eye Laser Center

Recently, the Sultanate’s leading eye-care services clinic was conferred the much-coveted ISO 9001-:2008 certification in a further demonstration of its unparalleled commitment to its patients. Papers presented by Dr Maria Clara Arbelaez at ASCRS lauded

The Annual American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeon’s (ASCRS) Symposium and Congress was recently held in San Diego where Dr. Maria Clara Arbelaez, Medical Director, Muscat Eye Laser Center, was the only specialist from the Middle East to participate. Dr. Maria Clara Arbelaez presented two papers at the symposium on ‘Ablation Volume’ and ‘Myopic High Speed Excimer’. In the later, Dr Arbelaez compared the results of myopic LASIK with LASEK with the Schwind Amaris 750S on 225 patients. The results showed amazing precision of the intended correction with 93 per cent of patients achieving results within + or – 0.25D and 100 per cent of patients with + or – 0.50D at six months using either LASIK or LASEK. Furthermore, the results indicated a significant increase in contrast sensitivity (a measurement of visual quality) at six months. Muscat Eye Laser Center to host famed surgeon yet again

Renowned Japanese eye surgeon Prof. Takayuki Akahoshi returns to Muscat next month in line with a commitment by local host, Muscat Eye Laser Center, to enabling the delivery of truly world-class eye surgical care services within the Omani private sector. The two-day tour, set for February 12-13, 2011, will build on Prof. Akahoshi hugely successfully maiden visit last October during which the Sultanate was acquainted at first-hand with the formidable cataract surgery skills of the legendary surgeon. A second visit that took place towards the end of December drew an even stronger response from patients and customers eager to benefit from the celebrated surgeon’s unrivalled capabilities.
